There`s almost nothing that can put you in an instantly better mood better than music. With all the different genres and bands and years worth of songs, music is loved by everyone even if they dislike some other genres. I picked this theme for my blog because I have a setlist on my ipod featuring all of my favorite songs that I love for different reasons. Although they didn`t all make the list, I tried to pick my top twelve and I also tried to add a little genre variation in there. Wether I picked these songs because I love the band, am addicted to the lyrics or maybe just love the beat, I hope you`ll maybe even find one song you like :) Click on the links to hear the song along with the lyrics if you`d like! Hope you enjoy!

Twist N Shout - The Beatles
This song automatically puts you in a happy dancing mood. It was covered by The Beatles in 1963 on their record "Please Please Me" and is viewed as one of the finest examples of British rock and roll because of its amazing vocals, whats not to like?
Well, shake it up, baby, now, (shake it up, baby)
Twist and shout. (twist and shout)
Cmon cmon, cmon, cmon, baby, now, (come on baby)
Come on and work it on out. (work it on out)
Well, work it on out, honey. (work it on out)
You know you look so good. (look so good)
You know you got me goin, now, (got me goin)
Just like I knew you would. (like I knew you would, oooh!)
Twist and shout. (twist and shout)
Cmon cmon, cmon, cmon, baby, now, (come on baby)
Come on and work it on out. (work it on out)

Twist and shout. (twist and shout)
Cmon, cmon, cmon, cmon, baby, now, (come on baby)
Come on and work it all out. (work it all out, oooh!)
You know you’re a twisty little girl, (twist little girl)
You know you twist so fine. (twist so fine)
Come on and twist a little closer, now, (twist a little closer)
And let me know that you're mine.

You know you twist so fine. (twist so fine)
Come on and twist a little closer, now, (twist a little closer)
And let me know that you're mine.

Dancing, skirts flowing
To that catchy song I love
Turn up the music

Love Always Remains - MGMT
Featured on MGMT`s first album "We (Dont) Care" in 2004 then being released on the "Time To Pretent" EP in 2005, it has stood out to me in many ways. First of all, the lyrics seem to have a different meaning to everyone, I think of it as being nostalgic, such as times with friends and also recognizing the innocence and the safety you felt as a child. Then there is the way that the song starts off simply then overlaps itself giving you the feeling of all your memories rushing around in your mind.
There's a place I'd like to go somewhere out west,
It's not specific,
And the pictures show it best.
I know there's trees I know there's sand
And I know there's grass,
I know it's somewhere in the past.
There's a girl out there who's lookin for it too,
She's not sure when she'll go,
Or exactly what she'll do.
If I am doomed am I the first one or the last?
Am I just someone from the past?
No one has to hear
The sound of people laughing at their fears
And the ocean and sun are always there
To make you happy if you're feeling scared
of the darkness.
If I ever saw a ghost it'd change the way
I'
d think
I would'nt gasp for air if ever I did sink
I wouldnt struggle,
I'd just let it all out fast
And then start living in the past
(No one has to hear)
If we hold the hand that rapes the hand,
(The sound of people laughing at their fears)
And everyone can feel the hand
(And the ocean)
And nothings gonna change
(and sun are always there)
It could always be the time we're living in
(To make you happy if you're feeling scared)
We'll never feel so safe again,
(Of the darkness)
But love always remains,
(no one has to hear)
If we hold the hand that rapes the hand,
(the sound of people laughing at their fears)
And everyone can feel the hand
(And the ocean)
And nothing's gonna change,
(And sun are always there)
It could be the time we're living in,
(To make you happy if your feeling scared)
We'll never feel so safe again,
(Of the darkness)
But love always remains,
The love always remains.
If we hold the hand that rapes the hand
And everyone can feel the hand,
And nothing's gonna change
It could be the time we're living in
we'll never feel so safe again,
But love always remains.
No one has to hear
The sound of people laughing at their fears
And the ocean and sun are always there
To make you happy if you're feeling scared
To make you happy if you're feeling scared
Blurry memories
Strange yet farmiliar places
Never letting go
Walking On A Dream - Empire Of The Sun
This is one of the uplifting songs that I love to listen to when I'm in a good mood. The lyrics are positive and encouraging in a way and tell you that you shouldnt miss the little things in life and to not dwell on the past. It was released by the australian band Empire Of The Sun in 2008 on their album also named "Walking On A Dream".
Walking on a dream
How can I explain
Talking to myself
Will I see again
We are always running for the thrill of it, thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down I’m just in awe of what’s in front of me
Is it real now
When two people become one
I can feel now
When two people become one
Thought I’d never see
The love you found in me
Now it’s changing all the time
Living in a rhythm where the minutes working overtime
We are always running for the thrill of it, thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down I’m just in awe of what’s in front of me
Is it real now
Two people become one
I can feel now
Two people become one
Catch me I’m falling down
Catch me I’m falling down
Don’t stop just keep going on
I’m your shoulder lean upon
So come on deliver from inside
All we got is tonight that is right till first light
Is it real now
Two people become one
I can feel now
Two people become one

Breathing In A New Mentality - Underoath
From Underoath's heaviest album, "Lost In The Sound Of Separation" (2008), this song is incredibly addictive. I love the intensity of the lyrics and I must say it was amazing hearing it live. This song has a way of pumping me up and I had to put it on my list.
I'm the desperate
And you're the savior
I'm the desperate
And you're the savior
There's been something else
I'm the desperate
And you're the savior
There's been something else
Talkin' in my ear
Someone save me
When I speak it begins to decay
I'm not about to bury myself
Oh, God!
My hands are shaking again
My hands are shaking again
Calm down yourself!
Now I can't feel the floor
Now I can't feel the floor
And my vision takes it's toll on me
I'm the desperate
And you're the savior
I'm the desperate
And you're the savior
Oh, God! It's racing through our veins
I'm afraid there must be some kinda mistake
Oh, I'm in over my head again!
Reach in and grab a hold of me,I'm so scared that I've started to slip
I'm afraid there must be some kinda mistake
Oh, I'm in over my head again!
Reach in and grab a hold of me,I'm so scared that I've started to slip
I'll prove them wrong,
Prove 'em wrong
It's over!
It's over!
I hear the calling but it's passing through
Clean me up show me how to live
I hear the calling but it's passing through
Clean me up show me how to love
Tear me down,
Let me start again!
They say that I'll never change
Creep - Radiohead
Creep was released as Radiohead`s first single in 1992, then on "Pablo Honey" in 1993. It was inspired by a girl who the guitarist was fond of in university. The singing at the end of the song is something to be appreciated, as well as the lyrics that are relatable but original.
When you were here before
Couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel,
Your skin makes me cry
You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so fucking special
But I'm a creep,
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't care if it hurts,
I want to have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice when I'm not around
You're so fucking special,
I wish I was special
But I'm a creep,
I'm a weirdo
What the hell I'm doing here?
I don't belong here
She's running out the door
She's running out
She runs, runs, runs,runs, runs
Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so fucking special,
I wish I was special
But I'm a creep,
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here,
I don't belong here
Longing for perfection
Need your attention
Lust and jealousy
Unfair reality
Parabola - Tool
I could go on about this song forever. I chose this song because it is probably one of my favorite songs ever. Although it isn`t particularly happy or upbeat I respect and love the music Tool has made. This is from one of their most recent albums, "Lateralus" (made in 2001) which also has a lead-in called Parabol, on that very same album.
We barely remember
Who or what came before
This precious moment.
Who or what came before
This precious moment.
We are choosing to be here, right now.
Hold on, stay inside...
This holy reality, this holy experience.
Choosing to be here in...
This body, this body holding me,
Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me,
feeling eternal all this pain is an illusion.
In this holy reality, in this holy experience.
Choosing to be here in...
This body, This body holding me.
Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me,
feeling eternal all this pain is an illusion.
Twirling 'round with this familiar parable.
Spinning, weaving 'round each new experience.
Recognize this as a holy gift
And celebrate this chance to be,
Alive and breathing,
Alive and breathing,
A chance to be,
Alive and breathing.
Alive and breathing.
This body holding me
Reminds me of my own mortality.
Reminds me of my own mortality.
Embrace this moment.
Remember; we are eternal,
all this pain is an illusion.
11AM - Incubus
Featured in the rock band's fourth album, "morning view" in 2001, its much softer than incubus' previous albums. I appreciate this song and how it conveys the mood of the song so well along with the lyrics.
7 am;
7 am;
The garbage truck beeps as it backs up
And I start my day thinking about what I've thrown away.
Could I push rewind?
The credits traverse, signifying the end
But I missed the best part.
Could we please go back to start?
Forgive my indecision
Then again, then again, then agin,
You're always first when no one's on your side,
But then again, a day will come when I want off that ride.
11 am,
But my bedsheets shade the heated choices I've made
And what did I find?
I never thought I could want someone so much
'Cause now you're not here and I'm knee deep in that old fear.
Forgive my indecision... I am only a man.
Then again, then again, then again,
But, then again, a day will come when I want off that ride.
12 pm and my dusty telephone rings.
I hope its you.
Then again, you're always first when no one's on your side
But, then again, then again,
The day has come and I want off that ride
Heavy head up from my pillow, who could it be?
you're always first when no one's on your side
By now you would think that I would be up
